Review: Rimmel Lasting Finish

Hey, friends! I've been trying out a load of new products recently, so I'm sorry if my blog has seemed  over-saturated with reviews and first impressions - I'm just trying to post my thoughts while they're still relevant/fresh/trendy/other adjectives that do not describe myself personally. I've heard a lot about the Rimmel Lasting Finish 25HR Foundation for the past month-ish, so being a budding young beauty blogger, I decided to follow the herd. If you are an avid reader of my blog or instagram (*cricket noises*), you'll know that my OG holy grail foundation is the Covergirl 3in1 Superstay; I rarely ever try new bases because this one simply works for me, and if it aint broke, don't fix it. However, after the aforementioned buzz and a sale at Priceline, I decided to take the plunge.

As far as I know, this foundation runs in only seven shades; this is pretty standard for a drugstore range, but also sucks because it leaves a lot of folks out. Luckily enough for me, I colour match pretty damn well with the palest shade (010 Light Porcelain), which is a boost to my ego - because my dream is to have skin so pale it's practically translucent - but also absurd because I am definitely more on the light/medium spectrum, so for all you gorgeous fair/light people out there, you'll have to give this baby a miss.

If, like me, you don't appreciate having to pour foundation onto your hand - or, as in most cases, aggressively hit bottle against your hand until you're in a damp sweat - you'll be pleased to know that this foundation comes equipped with a pump. A small plus, but a very important one for me.

'But how does the foundation actually perform?', I pretend to hear you ask. Well, imaginary reader, I was pretty disappointed, let me tell you. Applying this product evenly was my initial problem, after a week or two of use I've come to the conclusion that a Beauty Blender will give you the best finish, but it's still not ideal for me. It seems to be one of those foundations that just continually stays tacky, leaving you constantly afraid to touch your face and accidentally remove product. To give this foundation some credit, I have been testing this in the most humid summer Perth has seen in sixteen years, but for something that has 'lasting finish' in the title, it's not lasting too well. I've posted some (unedited, terrifying) pictures below which show how my foundation looks just six hours after application - not cute, Rimmel, not cute. I'm so disappointed! My Covergirl 3in1 would never betray my like this!

Have you tried this foundation? How did you like it?

Enjoy!
